I still hate the word “No!”
Even though I’m an adult now (most days), I just hate being refused. Even this past week I experienced that itchy, out-of-sorts, kinda wish I could stomp my foot feeling a couple of times.
Like on Wednesday at the craft store. I carried 3 measly sets of buttons to the cash register. I was all set to get my purchase for free. But even though we swiped it three separate times, I couldn’t use my little $5 gift card because their system was down. Talk about cranky Janna!
Do you hate the word “No!” as much as I do?
I’ve never met anyone yet who enjoys rejection. Whether it’s being turned down, refused when you need something, or feeling the sting of being left out, rejection’s just a part of life.
That’s why I’m so intrigued by Jia Jiang’s experiment. To me, no normal person would face rejection on purpose for 100 days in a row! But Jia did. And the fascinating part is that he found ways to not only lessen the sting but to actually turn rejection into a great gift.
Hmm . . . I’m thinking I could learn a thing or two from his experiment.
